Fantasia’s husband, Kendall Taylor is pushing back on Joseph Barrino’s claims that he’s been misappropriating the singer’s money.
Days after Joseph Barrino’s scathing Facebook rant accusing Taylor of “probably stealing” money with no paper trail, Taylor is setting the record straight.
In a candid social video, Taylor went live to defend his and his wife’s name. He began by clarifying that he was already owning and operating a profitable business.
“When I met my wife, I was running my own multi-million dollar company. Period. That means her success, her career didn’t build me, didn’t shape me. That’s because I went to Senokco Leadership Academy, BMW Black Belt Training, Tuck School of Business, uh, Small Business Accelerator, C Medi Business Initiative, and had a lot of success and a lot of recognition.”
Taylor asserted that he requested a prenup specifically so her family wouldn’t accuse him of being after her money.
“I asked for the prenup. A prenup wasn’t put on me. I asked for it because I had business partners that I needed to protect and I needed to make sure her family knew that I had no intentions on coming after anything that she had established before she met me. I wanted to create a run way where we could just experience love with each other and figure out what this unnatural natural feeling was that we were exploring.”
Taylor added that Joseph didn’t show up to their wedding or attempt to develop a relationship with him.
“The gentleman who was taking the initiative to use her and my platform because he does not have one to demonstrate things that are beyond false and fictitious… Didn’t show up to the wedding. Didn’t want to speak with me, get to know me.”
“I am a justice impacted individual and I had to overcome tremendous adversity and circumstances in order to break a lot of criminal genenic mindsets and trauma and behavior that was keeping me at living at a lower level than what I was capable of and I experienced incredible success.”
The couple met in 2015 and famously married just three weeks later at a courthouse. They later celebrated with a formal wedding ceremony on their anniversary. Over the years, they’ve blended their families, raising children from previous relationships and welcoming a daughter together in 2021 after Barrino openly shared her three-year fertility journey.
The tension reveals a deep family rift that dates back years. Joseph Barrino sued Simon & Schuster for $10 million in 2006 over how he was portrayed in Fantasia’s autobiography “Life Is Not a Fairy Tale.” He claimed the book contained “malicious untruths.” Taylor revealed he has only spoken to Joseph a handful of times since marrying Fantasia and that his daughter has never met her grandfather. Joseph even asked Fantasia for money, including $3,500 once.
