Kid Cudi has officially removed M.I.A. from his “Rebel Ragers” tour following a series of controversial onstage rants during the tour’s opening week.
In a social media post on Monday, Kid Cudi revealed that his management had explicitly warned M.I.A. prior to the tour that offensive content would not be tolerated at his performances.
“TOUR UPDATE: M.I.A is no longer on this tour. I told my management to send a notice to her team before we started tour that I didn’t want anything offensive at my shows, cuz I already knew what time it was. And I was assured things were understood, Cudi wrote.
“After the last couple of shows, I’ve been flooded with messages from fans that were upset by her rants. “This, to me, is very disappointing,” Cudi continued. “And I won’t have someone on my tour making offensive remarks that upsets my fanbase.”
During a tour stop in Dallas, M.I.A. said she was a “brown Republican voter.”
“We can’t do ‘Illygirl’ because some of you could be in the audience,” she said on stage. Her comments were received with boos. On social media, several videos were shared of the incident by concertgoers.
“All right, I’m illegal,” M.I.A. said soon afterwards. “Half of my team are not here because they didn’t get the visa, OK? I want you to know that. All right? So don’t listen to what the bots say on the internet.”
Also taking to social media, M.I.A.doubled down on her remarks following her removal from the tour.
“I’M ILLYGAL FOR SPEAKING MY MIND NOW, WHO WOULDDA THOUGHT, THAT THOUGHT WILL BECOME CENSORED,” she wrote on X. She added: “CRUCIFIED FOR WORDS.”
M.I.A has not been shy about her support of the current administration.
During the 2024 presidential election, she came out in support of Donald Trump and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
“Trump is going to ride America through the most challenging 4 years coming, pulling out weed, and RFK will inherit America when God is ready to replant and rebuild it righteously,” she wrote on X at the time.
