Actor LaKeith Stanfield has announced that he and model Kasmere Trice got married and have a new baby.
Stanfield told People that he and Trice tied the knot in private after announcing their engagement in December. The pair also waited to share their baby news to “protect” the child “as long as possible.”
Stanfield, 31, shared how he prefers to keep special moments in his life off of the internet. “Being in the public eye can be something that’s amazing, but it can also be something that is very hard on you. There needs to be things that exist that are sacred and not for consumption for everybody.”
“We decided early on we wanted to protect our baby as much as we can for as long as possible,” Trice, 29 said of their child, whose name and sex they’ve chosen to withhold.
On Wednesday (July 26), LaKeith took to Instagram to share the news of his marriage and ‘Baby Stanfield.’ “If you’re fortunate enough in this life, you get to see your wildest imaginations manifested before your eyes.” He added, “I am endlessly grateful to God for being able to achieve some of those things. The best part of it all was being gifted by the most high, a gorgeously intelligent and spiritually magnetic person to share life with.”
“In any storm we stand unified and work to create conditions for the perfect breeze within ourselves. I love you and congratulations on motherhood. 🌹”
He and Kasmere met in Canada, where LaKeith was working. At first, “we were just feeling each other out, like maybe this will be a cool friend,” says LaKeith. “As love does, it just smacked us out of nowhere. I’m working on my music, writing and writing, and then this person who I was seemingly writing about pops up in my life. It was strange.”
Stanfield made his acting debut in 2013 in the film Short Term 12. Within the past ten years, he has starred in several projects including Atlanta, Get Out, Selma and Judas and the Black Messiah. He most recently stars in the new film Haunted Mansion alongside Tiffany Haddish.
