Sara Marley, the daughter of Lauryn Hill and businessman Rohan Marley, is headed to Florida this fall to attend the University of Miami.
The announcement was publicly made by Rohan in January. He wrote on X, “Blessed Bday My Future Cane Sara Marley I Love You My Daughter.” He referenced the ‘Miami Hurricanes’ which are the intercollegiate sports teams representing to the school.
In the post, he and his youngest daughter with Hill, can be seen posing on campus infront of a massive, stylized ‘U’ logo sculpture.
Sara plans to study sociology at the university per BCKOnline.com. In an instagram slideshow, Rohan spoke positive words over his daughter’s next journey.
“A true leader of the new school, rising in real time. Words can’t fully express how proud we are of you and all that you continue to achieve. This is a powerful moment for us, and you are stepping boldly into your next level with grace, confidence, and purpose,” he wrote in Jaunary.
The legendary Hill, 50, shares five children with Rohan in Zion, Selah, Joshua, John and Sara. The “Killing Me Softly” singer also has a son named Micah, the youngest of her bunch.
In October, Hill and Rohan reunited to attend Sara’s Senior Night soccer game.
In the same month, Sara accompanied her mom to Johannesburg, South Africa for a philanthropic trip. The duo donated school supplies and school shoes to elementary school students as well read and sang them songs.
Hill previously said that being a parent was of the utmost importance to her.
“Like any woman on the planet who decides to have children, that’s an extremely important role,” she told The Guardian in 2003. “You have these empty vessels that you have to fill with all the information, and all the knowledge and all the proper tools for them to end up being happy, healthy, compassionate, caring people. That’s really crucial to me. So I love music, and I always put my 100% into making music, but now I have to put 200% into being a mother.”
