MLH Touring Inc., the company behind Lauryn Hill’s Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill Anniversary Tour, is facing legal trouble for breach of contract.

Eighteentwentysix LLC, a California service provider, has filed a lawsuit against MLH Touring Inc. for nearly $60,000 in unpaid services and other compensatory demands. This marks the first legal action related to Hill’s 25th Anniversary Tour, which gained attention when it was postponed in 2023.

Eighteentwentysix argues that after establishing a written contract with MLH Touring in August 2023, they became responsible for managing the production, rehearsals, and other performance-related needs. However, the company alleges that MLH Touring did not make payments as requested. As a result, Eighteentwentysix is demanding the amount owed, and 10% interest added from their last invoice in December 2023. In addition, the touring company is requested to repay the agency’s attorney fees, incurred costs associated with the lawsuit, and other financial relief to be considered by the courts.

Tour Postponement

The complaint comes six months after the “Doo Wop (That Thing)” singer announced the postponement of her tour.

Last November, Hill revealed she would not be able to continue the Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill Anniversary Tour until 2024.

“As many of you may know, I’ve been battling serious vocal strain for the past month. I made it through each show by taking prescribed Prednisone, but this can be detrimental to the body when taken in large amounts over long periods of time,” Hill explained.

She continued saying, “In order to prevent any long-term negative effect [SIC] on my voice and my body, I need to take time off to allow for real vocal recovery so that I can discontinue the medication completely.”

Hill noted that because of her health, most of the remaining 2023 shows would be rescheduled. However, she made it up to fans by promising to bring her music to more cities, her statement read:

“The shows that were canceled this year will be rescheduled for early 2024 AND because of the overwhelming response, we’ll be adding new cities to the tour, including overseas. We’re working on the new calendar now, and announcing soon.”
