Ms.Lauryn Hill is heading on a World Tour to celebrate the 25th anniversary of her transcendent solo debut album Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. The celebration of the acclaimed album includes 17 total dates and support from global reggae star Koffee for the Australian shows.
The Fugees are set to reunite for the North American shows as co-headliners. Member Pras faces up to 20 years in prison for a political conspiracy case. The Grammy-winning group was set to embark on a 25th-anniversary reunion tour but was canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Hill’salbum was released on Aug. 25, 1998, and quickly claimed accolades, becoming the first hip-hop record to win album of the year. Hill became the first woman to win five Grammys in one night.
“The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill is and was a love song to my parents, my family, my people, my musical and cultural forebears, my teachers, my loves, my Creator,” Hill wrote in a press release. “I wrote love songs and protest songs–(still love songs) about the subjects and interests that inspired and moved me. I was confident that what inspired me would resonate with an audience that had been led to believe that songs of that kind could only live in the past.”
The Jersey native recently graced the stage with a surprise performance at Yankee Stadium for the hip-hop 50 concert, performing her legendary tracks from the album including “Doo Wop (That Thing)”.
Tickets go on sale to the public Friday at 10 a.m. See below for The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill 25th Anniversary Tour dates.
