Lil Jon’s adult son was reported missing after he was last seen leaving his Georgia home on Tuesday, per NBC News.
According to a notice, Nathan Smith, a performer under the name DJ Young Slade, was last seen in the vicinity of Baldwin Drive and Mayfield Road in Milton on Tuesday around 6 a.m.
Police said in a bulletin that he “ran out of his house and has been missing since.” He left on foot and did not have a cellphone with him, the bulletin states.
“The family is asking for privacy at this time,” a publicist for Lil Jon told 11Alive on Wednesday. “We are also asking for continued prayers for Nathan to come home safe. Thank you.”
He is described as 5-foot-9 weighing 150 pounds with brown eyes and short black hair. According to local outlet Rough Draft Atlanta, which was first to report the news, Smith was possibly naked when he left.
“He may be disoriented and in need of assistance. Family and friends are concerned for his safety,” the notice said.
Lil Jon shares Nathan Smith with his former wife, Nicole Smith. Nearly ten years ago, the trio took a trip to Ghana to rebuild classrooms for children, honoring Lil Jon’s mother.
Nathan has been following the pathway his dad set forth with a prosperous music career. In a 2024 interview with OK Magazine, Lil Jon spoke on Nathan’s seamless journey to music production. “He fell in love with music, so he ended up going to NYU and was in the Tisch program. He learned every aspect of the music business and started producing in high school. When he got to college, he kind of released his own songs. He’s gotten more into producing his own music and other people’s music. We’ve actually produced a bunch of songs together, so that’s cool. When he was going to college, he would come home and be my engineer.”
Lil Jon is also dad to 1-year-old daughter Nahara with girlfriend Jamila Sozahdah.
