Lil Wayne recently revealed why he could never appear on Verzuz. According to Wayne, there is not artist that can match his enormous music catalog.
Appearing on DJ Drama’s Gangsta Grillz Podcast archive on Tuesday, Wayne stated that no one can match him.
If I am competing against whoever I’m competing against, I will embarrass you,” Wayne explained from the 2023 interview.
“The only thing that would make sense to me if it was Album Wayne vs Mixtape Wayne or Features Wayne, or something like that,” Wayne continued. “I got too much material.”
Wayne’s decision not to perform is actually him being kind because he doesn’t want to derail anyone’s career.
“It’s not that no artist can, it’s that I’m too competitive,” Wayne said. “I wouldn’t want to embarrass anyone, and if I am competing against someone. And I will embarrass you, I don’t wanna embarrass nobody. “
While he may never appear on Verzuz, Wayne is currently on his 20 Years Of Carter Classics Tour. As he is celebrating his legendary career, he no-showed a concert appearance in Bangor, Maine.
Scheduled to perform at the Bangor Waterfront in Bangor, Maine, on Tuesday, June 30, Wayne was a no-show.
Wayne’s set was supposed to follow 2 Chainz’s performance at 10:45 p.m. But at 11 p.m., the audience was informed that Wayne would not be showing up until the end of the night. In his place, a guest DJ played for several hours before the crowd was dismissed.
Wayne released a statement on his Instagram stories about his absence.
“My Maine fans, I’m so sorry…The show is being rescheduled to July 28,” he wrote. Please hold on to your tickets; they will be honored for the rescheduled date. More information will be emailed directly to ticket holders.”
“I ain’t s— without you. I can’t wait to come back and give you the show you deserve,” Wayne continued. “Thanks for the inquiry.”
