In 2022, Will Smith, an actor who rarely returns for sequels, decided to bring back the famous post-apocalyptic thriller, I Am Legend. This time, Michael B. Jordan will join the cast for an alternate ending.
In an interview with People, Jordan revealed that the script is still being worked on, and they’re hoping to get it up to par soon enough. He also added that they have not begun filming for the sequel nor is there a release date as yet, but he’s excited to work with Smith on this highly anticipated sequel. Read his full comment below:
“We’re still working on the script and getting that up to par. It doesn’t have a release date or anything like that. I’m not sure exactly where we’re going to be filming that one, but I’m really excited to get in front of the camera with him. Being somebody that I’ve looked up to for a really long time, to be able to work with Will is something I’m really looking forward to. I’m really excited.”
Based on the 1954 novel of the same name by Richard Matheson, I Am Legend follows Smith’s character, a scientist who must navigate life in a post-apocalyptic New York City after a disease that turned humans into zombie-like creatures wiped out much of humanity. The film earned more than $585 million worldwide.
There’s still a lot unknown about the forthcoming sequel, but there’s a lot to be optimistic about and viewers will be hoping that this sequel can deliver just as well as its predecessor.
