After 100-plus days in office, Nelly is still willing to give Donald Trump and his agenda a chance.
During an interview with Fox News Digital, Nelly opened up about how the nation is politically divided and why he chooses to stay positive with everything that’s going on.
“I’m all for everybody staying positive about any and everything,” Nelly explained. “I’m a glass-half-full type of guy. I’m more empowered by bringing people together and making sure that we all get what we need, when we need it, and why we need it.”
Back in January, Nelly received backlash for performing at President Donald Trump’s Liberty Inaugural Ball.
In an interview with Willie D on the Willie D. Live podcast, Nell shared why he accepted the invitation to perform at a Trump event.
“Doing this for money,” but “doing this ’cause it’s an honor. I respect the office. It doesn’t matter who is in office. The same way that our men and women, our brothers and sisters who protect this country, have to go to war and have to put their life on the line for whoever [is] in office, I can damn sure perform for whoever [is] in office.”
Nelly went on to explain that his performance was not politically motivated.
“It is an honor for me to perform for the president of the United States, regardless of who is in office,” he said. “Nelly compared his decision to the duty of military personnel, noting that soldiers serve their country and commander-in-chief, even if they don’t personally support them.”
He also believed that voters should not be easily influenced by any content.
““This isn’t me telling you, ‘Yo, you should vote for this candidate,’” he said. “I think you should do your homework and figure out what’s best for you and your loved ones,” he continued.
“If President Biden asked me to perform, I would’ve performed. If Vice President Kamala Harris asked me, I would’ve performed,” he said. “I will work with anybody. This isn’t about agreeing with political choices; it’s about respecting the office.
