Nia Long is seeking court-ordered protection from a woman she claims keeps showing up at her home under the belief that they are in a romantic relationship.
The actress took legal action on Monday (Mar 23), after what she describes as more than two years of unwanted contact from the woman identified as Carrie McDonald.
In court documents obtained by TMZ, Nia claims McDonald “is a stalker” who has been harrassing her for years. The alleged behavior includes sending unwanted cards, flowers and gifts to her home, as well as showing up at the property on more than one occasion.
According to the report, on Saturday (Mar 21), McDonald ring the doorbell to Long’s Los Angeles home. Police were called and the woman was later arrested.
Additionally, Long states that McDonald previously appeared at her home in the middle of the night in 2024. McDonald allegedly demanded she open the door.
Long claims that law enforcement responded at that time and issued what she described as a “strong warning” to the woman. However, the situation reportedly continued, leading to the most recent incident and arrest.
Court-ordered protection
In the legal filing, Long requested that the court-ordered protection extend to include her family. She asked for coverage that would apply to her two children and her mother, reflecting the degree to which she feels the situation poses a threat to her immediate household.
However, according to the report, a judge denied the temporary restraining order at this stage. The court has scheduled a hearing in April to further review the matter. At the hearing, both sides will have the opportunity to present evidence and arguments before a decision on longer-term protection is made.
