Nike has officially unveiled the first signature sneaker for A’ja Wilson, the A’One, marking a major milestone for the two-time WNBA champion. The Las Vegas Aces star celebrated the announcement on social media, writing, “No Leaks @nikebasketball, A’ONE HAS ARRIVED.” The sneaker will be available in May 2025, alongside a full apparel collection featuring sweats, slides, and more.

A’One: A Signature Sneaker for a WNBA Champion

Wilson’s A’One showcases a striking “Pink Aura” colorway with personal touches woven into the design. The embroidery behind the tongue honors her parents, while pearl motifs throughout the shoe pay tribute to her late grandmother, Hattie Rakes. “My favorite Easter egg would have to be the inside of the tongue, [which has] my two tattoos, which represent my mom and my dad,” Wilson shared. “Their guidance is something that has made me who I am today.”

Ben Nethongkome, Nike’s lead designer for the project, emphasized Wilson’s hands-on approach to the sneaker’s development. “She was like, ‘No, no, no. We need something that looks fast and matches my energy on court, matches my game,’” he recalled. Taking Wilson’s feedback to heart, Nike refined the design to better align with her vision.

A Celebration in Columbia for A’ja Wilson

Wilson revealed the A’One in Columbia, South Carolina, the city where she grew up and played her college career. The announcement followed an emotional weekend in which her University of South Carolina jersey was retired. “Being here makes it really hit home for me, because I’ve been surrounded by people who watched me grow up,” Wilson said. “To see them finally get to see the shoe and to make it happen all here, I wouldn’t want it any other way.”

Fans had been anticipating Wilson’s signature shoe for months. When she first announced its development in May 2024, she wore a sweatshirt that read, “Of Course I Have A Shoe Dot Com.” Now, with the official unveiling, excitement has only grown. “Yea Nike went crazy with the A’Ones. These are my next hoop shoes for sure,” one fan tweeted. Another added, “She should’ve had a signature shoe years ago with her accolades.”

With Wilson’s influence extending beyond basketball, the A’One is more than just a sneaker—it’s a statement of legacy and personal style.
