Iconic bluesman Buddy Guy will celebrate his 90th birthday at New York’s Radio City Music Hall on Oct. 1, Variety reports.
Titled “Buddy’s Got the Blues: A 90th Birthday Concert Celebration,” the concert will feature Jon Batiste, Aloe Blacc, Gary Clark Jr, Eric Clapton, John Mayer, Susan Tedeschi & Derek Trucks, Shemekia Copeland, Robert Cray, and Robert Randolph,
Also, Bobby Rush, Isaiah Sharkey, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Jimmie Vaughan, Ally Venable, Willie Weeks, Kim Wilson, Joe Bonamassa, Samantha Fish, Eric Gales, Billy F Gibbons, and Ivan Neville are slated to perform.
The concert is being produced by Blackbird Presents and Live Nation.
Steve Jordan will serve as the evening’s musical director. Keith Wortman, Garry Buck, and Scooter Weintraub are executive producers.
In a statement, Guy shared his excitement about the upcoming concert.
Can’t wait to celebrate 90 years of living, loving, and playing the Blues with all my friends,” Guy said. “We’ll make it a night not just for me, but for the folks who taught us, the friends we’ve played with, and the ones coming up behind us.”
GUY’S LEGENDARY ACCOMPLISHMENTS
A monumental force in American music, Guy is widely recognized as the chief architect of Chicago’s electric West Side sound. Born into a Louisiana sharecropper family, he migrated north, serving as a session player at Chess Records. He went on to play alongside giants like Muddy Waters and Howlin’ Wolf.
Over his historic career, Guy has accumulated nine Grammy Awards. Most recently, he secured the 2026 Grammy for Best Traditional Blues Album for Ain’t Done With the Blues. Guy also won a prestigious Lifetime Achievement Grammy.
He holds 38 Blues Music Awards, a Billboard Century Award, and a Kennedy Center Honor. He also won the Presidential National Medal of Arts and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005. Guy continues to run his Chicago club, Buddy Guy’s Legends. In 2025, Guy made a cameo appearance in Ryan Coogler’s hit film Sinners.
