In the months leading up to his death, O.J. Simpson took to Twitter to provide updates on his health. Just two months before his passing, he shared a video reassuring his followers about his well-being.
In a video posted on Feb. 11, filmed before the 2024 Super Bowl in Las Vegas, Simpson expressed gratitude to his supporters.
“Hey, let me take a moment to say thank you to all the people who reached out to me. My health is good,” he said in the video.
He acknowledged facing some health challenges but remained optimistic, mentioning his anticipation of returning to the golf course soon.
Addressing concerns raised by a report from WPLG claiming he was in hospice care for prostate cancer, Simpson emphatically denied the rumors in another video posted two days prior. He dismissed the reports.
“Hospice? Hos-pice?! You talkin’ about hospice? No, I’m not in any hospice. I don’t know who put that out there,” he asserted.
O.J. Simpson’s Health Battles
Simpson’s upbeat demeanor persisted despite battling health issues. Even after reports emerged in February suggesting he was undergoing chemotherapy for prostate cancer, Simpson remained positive, emphasizing his plans to host friends for the Super Bowl in Las Vegas.
In May 2023, Simpson had disclosed on X that he had completed treatment for an unspecified type of cancer, indicating a prior struggle with the disease. However, his health update in February conveyed a sense of resilience and hopefulness, reflecting his determination to overcome challenges.
Tragically, Simpson’s family announced his passing on April 10th, attributing it to complications from prostate cancer. The statement shared on his X account conveyed a sense of loss but also requested privacy and grace during their time of mourning.
Despite the controversies surrounding Simpson’s life, his final public appearances showed a man focused on gratitude and resilience in the face of adversity. His legacy, complex and multifaceted, remains a subject of fascination and debate.
