Pharrell Williams has filed a lawsuit against an LLC called Spreadshirt for allegedly using counterfeit designs with his Billionaire Boys Club (BBC) brand and name.

Court documents reveal that the lawsuit is seeking $14 million and claims that Spreadshirt allowed third-party sellers to upload counterfeit designs, while also acting as the printing, packaging, and shipping company for the fake goods.

Williams’ attorney, Richard J. Pocker, said, “Spreadshirt’s conduct continues unabated. The manufacture, publishing, advertising for sale, and sales of counterfeit and infringing products persist. BBC brings this action to put a stop to this ongoing unlawful conduct and to hold Spreadshirt accountable for their actions.”

In 2003, the producer founded Billionaire Boys Club along with Japanese streetwear designer Nigo. It became a staple in global fashion culture with a lot of skatewear influences. The brand also has sub-labels, including ICE CREAM and Billionaire Girls Club.

This lawsuit is a part of an ongoing issue between established brands and digital platforms due to online marketplaces being the prominent outlet for unlicensed merchandise.
