R. Kelly has joined the “Residuals” challenge!

The singer, who is serving a 30-year sentence in prison, has released his own verse of the track. Tank, a fellow singer, started the challenge in February, and since then, many other artists, such as Mario, LaTocha Scott, Vedo, Jacob Latimore, and others, have joined in.

Kelly sang his verse from a prison phone call. However, his verse questioned where his monetary residuals are after being in the music industry for over thirty years: “Tell me who, who’s getting all my checks? Where is my money? Tell me who, who’s getting paid for my grind?” All of that’s supposed to be mine.”

He continued to sing, “Who gave you 34 years? Who made you billions of dollars? Who put the ‘R’ in ‘R&B,’ swear that it’s killing me. Am I still making you holler?”

Fans began to share mixed reviews after the disgraced singer’s verse on social media. One user said, “They really tryna soft launch R. Kelly back into the world. Why is he singing a Residuals Remix on a jail phone, man?”
