R.Kelly claims he is fearful of his life after undergoing operation to treat blood clots.

Kelly is currently serving a 30-year prison sentence at Chicago’s Metropolitan Correctional Center after being convicted of child pornography charges last year.

In a phone interview obtained by RaphouseTV, the “Bump n’ Grind” singer claimed the medical staff at the MCC “botched” his recent blood clot surgery. He also claimed that he does not “deserve to die” and that “somebody miscommunicated or somebody took a guess at what’s going on with my leg.”

Kelly continued, “They didn’t even X-ray. And that’s why I’m speaking out on this, because I’m scared for my life in that area.” He added, “And who wouldn’t be? They treat animals better than that.”

“If it was your child, if it was your father, if it was your mother, somebody you loved, you would’ve said: ‘Go to the doctor. We need to get that checked out. We need to look at that. We need to X-ray that,’” Kelly said.

Jennifer Bonjean, Kelly’s lawyer, blasted the medical staff at Chicago’s Metropolitan Correctional Center for their negligent care of her client. She stated that the MCC’s lack of medical assistance to inmates is unacceptable. “It’s not just because it’s R. Kelly,” Bonjean told ABC7 at the time. “Every prison deserves medical attention, medical care. The MCC is required to address these things in a competent fashion.”

  • In September 2022,  Kelly was convicted on six charges of child pornography and the enticement of a minor in Chicago. He was then sentenced to 20 years in prison.

U.S. Attorney Breon Peace shared remarks regarding Kelly’s sentencing at the time. “Moments ago, R. Kelly was sentenced to 30 years in prison. This is a momentous outcome for all victims of R. Kelly, and especially for the survivors who so bravely testified about the horrific and sadistic abuse they endured. ” He added, “R. Kelly is a predator and as a result of our prosecution, he will serve a significant jail sentence for his crimes.”
