Grammy award-winning R&B singer Raheem DeVaughn is celebrating two decades of his classic hit “You” with the release of a 20th Anniversary Edition.
DeVaughn reimagines the 2005 single with new vocal tracks, phrases, and accents, giving it a progressive sound.
The anniversary track for “You,” arrives as part of DeVaughn’s recently released tenth studio album, The Quiet Storm Lover (Volume 1). He released the project In February, through a direct-to-consumer partnership with Even.biz, embracing an innovative approach to connecting directly with his audience.
According to YouKnowIGotSoul, DeVaughn says the project reflects his current balance between the airwaves and the recording booth.
“This is a special album for me and a special time in my life,” DeVaughn stated. “I am able to enjoy two of the things that I love the most—singing and being a radio personality. There can’t be love in the bedroom without the ‘Quiet Storm’ vibes.”
Directed by Neptune XXI, the music video captures the essence of the song’s mature and romantic tone. “I wanted to keep it grown and sexy without doing too much and let the song do its thing,” DeVaughn said on concepting the look and feel.
The release of the new single arrives ahead of his tour with Floetry. On April 8, DeVaughn will join Floetry and Teedra Moses on the highly anticipated “Say Yes, The Tour,” which kicks of in Newark, NJ.
Beyond making music, DeVaughn serves as a host on DMV’s ,“The Original Quiet Storm” on WHUR 96.3 FM. He is also the founder of the LoveLife Foundation, dedicated to enhancing the physical and mental wellness of underserved communities of color.
