Rap legend Melle Mel has been arrested and charged in Los Angeles with felony domestic violence.
It has been reported that the rapper was accused by Jori Jordan of domestic violence, claiming that he punched her in the eye. She also revealed that she was hit by a car door a month prior, and she had to get surgery.
Jordan recounts that the incident took place after Melle Mel called her up to his hotel room, where they had drinks. She then said that she suggested that they become intimate with each other before he hit her.
“I’m just sitting there, chillin,’ she said. “Next thing you know, this man just goes ‘whack’ with four rings on his finger and hits me in my eye.” She continued, “He popped one of my stitches, so there’s a hole in my eye.”
However, Melle Mel, whose real name is Melvin Glover, tells a different story. He said that he had known Jordan for nearly 20 years and that they attended an afterparty after the BET Awards. Glover claims that after they went to his hotel room, he asked her to leave, and she refused.
He has denied hitting her. “It’s very simple,” he said. “I punched her in the eye. She also said she had eye surgery a month ago. Had I punched her in the eye, especially with rings on, she would have had a cut eye,” he said.
Glover added, “It would have been way worse. Something did happen to her eye, but I did not punch her. With me tussling with her and trying to get her away from me to get her out of the room, something happened.”
Melle Mel was released after posting a $50,000 bond. We will keep you updated on this story.
