Dame Dash’s claims to have appointed the CEO of REVOLVT are false.
According to Endi Piper, General Counsel for Offscript Worldwide, REVOLT’s parent company, Dash’s claims are “uncorroborated.”
In an email to REVOLT, Piper set the record straight with Dash’s relationship with the brand.
“Damon Dash has not been appointed Chairman of REVOLT, either temporarily or permanently,” Piper told VIBE in an email. “At no point has Mr. Dash held this title or position within the company.”
Additionally, REVOLT stated that a quote attributed to Detavio Samuels, CEO of the company that celebrated “a proposed partnership between Dash and REVOLT, did not come from Samuels.
“The quote attributed to Detavio Samuels in any release [VIBE] received was fabricated and did not come from him,” Piper wrote.
Piper did acknowledge that Samuels and Dash have a “handshake agreement” about distributing Dash’s content series, Bosses Take Losses and the “corresponding economics.”
“Finalizing that deal was always contingent on legal documentation,” Piper wrote. “No such documentation exists, and Mr. Dash was not authorized to announce it.”
In our initial report, Dash claimed he would bring new content from his own platform, AmericaNu Network, to REVOLT TV. Also, My Paid in Full, a new docuseries, would be featured on the network.
“When I made Paid in Full, my intention wasn’t to tell the story of one crew,” Dash said. “Every block had their own Paid in Full. The block I was from and my own experience is my own Paid in Full. I saw things and I know people that were actually there.”
