Rickey Smiley reveals that he’s the father of 5-year-old twin girls.
The radio personality shared how he discovered he had more children during an interview. “When I tell you that’s the first time I saw the sun again,” he said. “During that dark hour, the sun came back out.”
The “dark hour” Smiley spoke about was the passing of his son 32-year-old son, Brandon, who died of a drug overdose. As the interview continued, Smiley said it took almost a year for reality to sink in that Brandon was gone. It was also when he learned about his twin daughters.
“Right before the one-year anniversary of my son’s death, I found out I have a 5-year-old, identical twin beautiful daughters.” The 56-year-old comedian learned of his twins after his ex-girlfriend discovered through court proceedings that Smiley was the father.
“We dated after that relationship ended and come to find out I have 5-year-old identical twin beautiful daughters that I am head over heels in love with,” he continued. He officially met his twin daughters on their birthday but knew them because they play with his grandson, Grayson.
“On their fifth birthday, I went into their house as their father,” he said, adding, that he got them flowers, and balloons, and sent them a cake. He also said that he redecorated one of the rooms in his house to accommodate his twins.
Rickey Smiley is a father of five. Four of his children are living, in addition to his grandson Grayson and his granddaughter Storm, who was fathered by his late son, Brandon. During a 2024 interview, Smiley opened up about losing Brandon.
“I feel like I had died. It literally felt like a part of me died. It was depressing, anxiety, sadness. Nothing I ever felt before, and sometimes it makes you feel like you wished you were dead also because the pain is unbearable.”
