Rihanna makes history once again. Last week (May 31), the mother of two earned four new diamond certifications from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), setting a record for female artists. The new recognitions bring Rihanna’s diamond record count to seven, making her the female artist with the most diamond singles and the most diamond-certified titles.

“Needed Me,” “Work” (feat. Drake), “Umbrella” (feat. JAY-Z), and “Stay” (feat. Mikky Ekko) all joined the diamond club at the end of last month. In April, “We Found Love” and the aptly named “Diamonds” hit the career achievement. Previously, her song “Love the Way You Lie,” featuring Eminem, earned a diamond plaque in May 2013. “Ain’t no back n forth,” wrote the 36-year-old on X, sharing the landmark achievement.

Rihanna’s Ongoing Success

Rihanna has not released a proper album since 2016’s ANTI. The acclaimed project features the aforementioned diamond-certified Drake collaboration. Despite the long wait, Rihanna assured EXTRA in April that the new music is in the works. “It’s gonna be amazing,” shared the Barbados-native. “If I’m not feeling it, and I’m not feeling like it represents the evolution, the time I spent away… There should be a show of growth, right? I want to play, and I feel like music is a playground, and I want to have fun with it and show truly where I am at.”

The singer has kept busy with her billion-dollar businesses, SAVAGE X Fenty and Fenty Beauty, which also sells Fenty Skin products. In October 2022, she released the ballad “Lift Me Up,” featured in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

A Personal Note

Rihanna and her partner A$AP Rocky, share two sons, RZA and Riot Rose. Despite being together for quite some time, it’s clear that the Hip Hop power couple can’t get enough of each other. In a viral video from May 15, Rihanna can be seen mouthing “That’s my baby daddy!” while making appropriate hand gestures as Rocky dances to the classic Cam’ron track, “Oh Boy.”

While signing autographs in New York City on May 12, Rocky playfully confronted a fan who wished Rihanna a happy Mother’s Day, humorously squaring up before laughing and shaking hands. “It’s all love,” the fan replied, taking the joke in stride.
