Robert Griffin III reveals that he has been let go from his job at ESPN.
It was reported that he, alongside Sunday NFL Countdown host Samantha Ponder, was let go on Thursday, August 15, although Griffin had two years left on his contract. He seemingly joked about being let go by using a clip of the 90s hit movie “Friday.”
The clip was when Willie Jones, played by John Witherspoon, asked his son Craig, played by Ice Cube the infamous line, “How the hell you gone get fired on your day off?” Craig replied, “I don’t know.”
ESPN’s decision to fire both Griffin and Ponder came before the company’s fiscal year in September allegedly that they were let go due to financial reasons. They both made a seven-figure salary and were told about the firing on Thursday morning.
However, it has not been made clear who will replace them especially since the first episode of Sunday NFL Countdown begins in 24 days.
