Serena Williams is set to be honored at the 2024 Kids Choice Awards. The tennis legend, 42, will receive the prestigious Legend Award on July 13 at UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles.
Serena Williams: A Game-Changing Superstar
“The Legend Award is given each year to an aspirational, game-changing global superstar whose name is synonymous with greatness,” Nickelodeon stated. “From Wimbledon to Wall Street, Hollywood to the White House, Serena Williams is a respected, beloved, and celebrated powerhouse.” Her journey inspires generations to reach further, push harder, and never give up on their dreams. “Serena’s story proves that through hard work and perseverance, everyone can become a legend,” Nickelodeon added, calling her “a role model unlike any other.”
Throughout her career, Williams has earned titles at all four Grand Slam championships: the French Open, the Australian Open, the US Open, and Wimbledon. In 2014, she held all four titles simultaneously, a feat known as the “Serena Slam.”
Serena’s achievements are unparalleled. She was named the 2015 Sportsperson of the Year by Sports Illustrated. Additionally, she has competed in both singles and doubles events, often with her sister Venus. They won Olympic gold medals in women’s doubles in 2000, 2008, and 2012. Serena also won a gold medal in women’s singles at the 2012 London Olympics.
Beyond the Court
Off the court, Serena has also made significant strides. In 2018, she launched her fashion line, Serena, followed by a makeup line, WYN Beauty, in partnership with Ulta Beauty. In April 2023, she founded Nine Two Six Productions to elevate female and diverse voices in content creation. Serena is an executive producer on the Oscar-winning film “King Richard,” which tells her family’s story.
Serena is also set to author two books for Random House, including a biography and a book detailing her life rules as an entrepreneur and advocate.
Past recipients of the Kids Choice Legend Award include icons like David Beckham, Michael Phelps, and Kobe Bryant.
