Speaking to PEOPLE, Barrow shared his thoughts on the allegations against Diddy, including a settled lawsuit by Cassie Ventura alleging a “cycle of abuse, violence, and sex trafficking.” Barrow, 46, said, “First and foremost, you pray for the victims. People like Cassie and whoever else is alleged.”
Barrow emphasized the importance of justice, adding, “We live in a world, in democracies at least, where the rule of law is tantamount. Everyone is innocent until proven guilty. I pray for justice, I pray for the victims, and I pray for Diddy.”
Despite a turbulent history with Diddy, including an eight-year prison sentence stemming from a 1999 nightclub shooting, Barrow expressed no ill will. “I wish everyone well,” he said. “I’m at a place where I don’t need anyone to fail or suffer for me to have pleasure or success.”
Barrow also acknowledged the pain of the alleged victims. “Cassie has been through some horrendous experiences, and there are other people claiming the same thing. I pray for everyone involved,” he added.
In the documentary, Barrow reflects on their past, alleging that Diddy’s actions played a role in his conviction. “I was absolutely set up to be the fall guy,” Barrow said. He recounted a conversation with Diddy following a press conference where he accused the music mogul of ruining his life. “You know that you destroyed my life,” Barrow told him.
Despite these grievances, Barrow reiterated his focus on healing and moving forward. “I’m a political leader; my integrity is all I have,” he stated in the film.
A spokesperson for Diddy categorically denied Barrow’s allegations, calling them “unequivocally false.” They added, “Mr. Combs appreciates the path Mr. Barrow has pursued and wishes him continued success.”
The Honorable Shyne is now available for streaming on Hulu.
