Slim Thug has offered another apology months after his initial statement claiming that settling her lawsuit with Diddy doesn’t necessarily imply that Cassie was a victim.
The Houston rapper faced criticism for stating that Cassie’s sole motive was to secure a financial settlement from Diddy. And after achieving that, she showed no interest in pursuing her allegations of domestic violence against him.
“They’re coming back and getting Bill Cosby and coming back and getting Puff [Diddy], I don’t believe in that. When sh*t go down, you speak on it right there. It should be null and void. Let the people know immediately. It should be a time limit,” Slim Thug said in a social video.
Slim followed up with a second video, not budging on his stance. He doubled down on his opinion that Cassie’s only motivation for her lawsuit was money. “She got her bag, so everything was good, but I’m just saying that it didn’t sound like no abuser-victim to me. It sounds like ‘I needed that bag’ and she got it and everything good now, she fixed, everybody happy now right?”
He immediately came under fire for his views. The rapper then returned to social media with an apology on Sunday (Nov. 19) but insisted that it was his “personal opinion.” Additionally, he did state that he doesn’t mind being corrected if he is wrong on something. He also added that he “didn’t know Cassie was Black.
On May 17 2024, the same day video footage surfaced of Diddy physically assaulting Cassie, Slim Thug issued another apology to the singer.
“Damn Diddy I tried to ride with the Blk man who had no charges yet but I can’t stand behind this. I’ll take this L.”
“But I still will ride with my ppl until I see some sort of proof I don’t believe in blogs or civil suits”
He concluded, “Apologies to Cassie and whoever else was on the right side this time.”
