Taye Diggs thinks he looks like a monkey without facial hair.
On May 15, Diggs, 53, shared a video of himself without facial hair with a monkey emoji in the post’s caption. In the video, he sang a song to note his displeasure and explain why he had to shave his face.
“I just had to shave all my facial hair off for this role that I’m playing in a movie. I’ve never seen myself without facial hair for about 89 years,” he sang. “I really don’t like what I see. I don’t like my upper lip. It makes me feel like a monkey, a monkey, monkey, monkey.”
Proceeding to the chorus, Diggs compared himself to a chimpanzee and an ape.
“I don’t like to look like a monkey,” he bellowed. “I don’t like to look like a monkey. I don’t like to look like an ape. I don’t like to look like a chimpanzee. I want my facial hair back. Can I have my facial hair back?”
X users questioned “The Best Man” actor’s song choice with one alluding to his behavior being a meltdown in disguise.
“Social Media really has people having meltdowns right in front of us,” a user wrote.
Another fan dragged Diggs for the song and brought up his past marriage to “Glee” actress Idina Menzel. The two were married for 10 years after meeting on the musical “Rent” back in 1995.
While the role for Diggs’ hairless face has yet to be announced, fans can see the actor on All American for one upcoming episode. The actor, whose character died in Season 5, is set to appear in the May 20 episode.
