Tiger Woods Arrested For DUI Car Crash, Later Released

Tiger Woods was arrested on Thursday (March 26) following a terrifying car crash in Jupiter Island, Florida. He was released from jail later that night after posting bail.

Martin County Sheriff’s Office arrested Woods on suspicion of DUI following a two‑vehicle crash. Woods’ Land Rover overtook a truck, clipped its rear, and rolled over according to reports. Investigators said Woods was traveling at a “high speed” when the crash occurred.

Neither Woods nor the other driver was injured.

In addition to his DUI charge, Woods is also facing charges for property damage and refusal to submit to lawful test. Woods was not under the influence of alcohol – his breathalyzer test registered a 0.00, police said – but deputies determined Woods was impaired. He did not submit to a urine test.

The golf legend was previously involved in a serious rollover crash in California in 2021.

According to WPTV, Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek said when officers with the Jupiter Island Police Department responded to the scene, they found a pickup truck pulling a pressure-cleaner trailer and a Range Rover on its side.

“The driver of that vehicle looked in his mirror and saw a (Range) Rover overtaking him at high speeds,” Budensiek said. “He saw it coming, so he tried to edge off the side of the road, but this is a small two-lane road, and there was no shoulder … to get off the side of the road.”

Budensiek said the Range Rover “swerved to avoid a collision” but clipped the back end of the trailer, causing Woods’ vehicle to roll over on its side.

“Our DUI investigators came to the scene, and Mr. Woods did (exhibit) signs of impairment,” Budensiek said. “They did several tests on him. .. He was placed under arrest and taken to the Martin County Jail.”

Woods was seen crawling out of the passener side of his vehicle following the crash. It was unclear if Woods was wearing a seat belt when the wreck happened.

Investigators suspect that Woods was on  “some type of medication or drug” rather than alcohol impairment. “We will never get definitive results as to what he was impaired on at the time of the crash,” Budensiek said.
