Tiger Woods recently had his seventh procedure to address ongoing problems with his back.

Taking to social media, Woods gave his fans an update on his health status.

“After experiencing pain and lack of mobility in my back, I consulted with doctors and surgeons to have tests taken. The scans determined that I had a collapsed disc in L4/5, disc fragments, and a compromised spinal canal.”

“I have opted to have my disc replaced yesterday. I already know I made a good decision for my health and my back,” Woods wrote.

“On Friday, Tiger underwent lumbar disc replacement surgery in his L4/5 Lumbar spine for lower back symptoms,” the post went on. “The surgery was deemed successful and performed by Dr Sheeraz Qureshi and his team at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.”

In his post, Woods did not mention if he plans to return to the golf course. He was slated to play in his Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas. Also, in the PNC Championship with his son, Charlie, in December.

Wood is still recovering after tearing his Achilles tendon in March.

This comes after Woods ruptured his Achilles tendon earlier this year.

“As I began to ramp up my own training and practice at home, I felt a sharp pain in my left Achilles. It was deemed to be ruptured,” he announced, “Dr. Charlton Stucken of Hospital for Special Surgery in West Palm Beach, Florida, performed a minimally invasive Achilles tendon repair for a ruptured tendon.”

Woods has had six other back surgeries over the past decade. His first was a microdiscectomy in 2014 due to a pinched nerve. The next year, he underwent a second microdiscectomy to address persistent discomfort in his back. He had two more microdiscectomy surgeries in 2017 and 2021.
