Kyle Chrisley, the 34-year-old eldest son of reality TV stars Todd and Julie Chrisley, was arrested Saturday night after a violent confrontation with law enforcement in Rutherford County, authorities and court documents say.

Officials allege Chrisley punched three deputies and threatened to kill them while being taken into custody on multiple charges.

The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call just before 7 p.m. Dec. 20 after Chrisley’s wife, identified in police reports as Ashleigh Chrisley, reported that her husband was “being belligerent” and making statements that concerned her.

Violent Encounter with Law Enforcement

According to a sheriff’s office statement, deputies found Chrisley walking in a roadway when they attempted to speak with him. “When attempting to speak with Mr. Chrisley, he became immediately aggressive, charged at deputies and began to throw punches and assault deputies,” said Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Brady Greene.

An affidavit obtained by TMZ states Chrisley struck three officers, causing injuries, and repeatedly threatened their lives. “He told them he ‘would kill all of them,’” the document says.

Deputies reportedly used OC spray to subdue Chrisley before placing him in custody.

Chrisley admitted to consuming about 64 ounces of beer earlier in the evening, according to police.

Chrisley was booked into the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center on a lengthy list of charges. They include three felony counts of assault on a law enforcement officer, domestic assault, public intoxication, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

He was released Sunday on an $88,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court Jan. 27, 2026.

This arrest marks another high-profile legal issue for Chrisley. In March 2023, he was arrested on aggravated assault charges, and in 2019 he faced drug possession charges in Oklahoma.

His parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley, became prominent reality TV personalities on Chrisley Knows Best before their 2022 federal convictions on bank fraud and tax eviction charges. They served prison time before receiving full pardons in May 2025.

Despite those pardons and attempts at family reconciliation, Kyle has struggled with legal and personal issues that have played out publicly. His wife has previously defended him by characterizing earlier incidents as misunderstandings.

Friends and family members have voiced concern about his well-being and ongoing battles with substance abuse. The couple also remains involved in a lawsuit alleging wrongful arrest during a previous encounter with the same sheriff’s office.
