Grammy-winning icon Toni Braxton celebrated her 57th birthday in style, unveiling a glamorous photoshoot that left fans in awe. The R&B legend, known for her sultry voice and timeless hits like “Un-break My Heart” and “Spanish Guitar,” marked the milestone by sharing a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the shoot on Instagram.
Wearing a stunning dark silver, asymmetric dress with a deep V-neck, Braxton confidently posed for the camera, pairing the look with silver pumps. Her long, sleek black hair, parted in the middle, complemented her smokey grey makeup, creating a striking visual. Braxton captioned one of the posts with a simple yet powerful declaration: “Fifty fine.” In another, she playfully added, “Happy birthday to me!” as she gazed coyly over her shoulder.
Braxton’s Return to Reality TV and Health Struggles
Aside from her glamorous birthday celebration, Braxton has had an emotional year, both personally and professionally. She, along with her sisters and mother, returned to reality TV with the latest season of The Braxtons, a show focusing on their lives after the tragic loss of Traci Braxton. The eldest Braxton sister passed away in March 2022 due to cancer.
“Before Traci passed, I was kinda angry at God,” Braxton revealed in a promotional clip. “I thought it was unfair. It’s unfair that Traci’s the one that’s sick. I felt like I was the one that was going to die first.” Braxton has openly shared her own health struggles, particularly with lupus, an autoimmune disease that has severely impacted her life.
Last year, Braxton underwent heart surgery due to complications from lupus. Reflecting on the experience, she shared with PEOPLE, “I kept putting it off, thinking I was fine. But my doctor was persistent, and it saved my life.” Her doctors discovered an 80% blockage in her coronary artery, which could have led to a fatal heart attack.
Despite these challenges, Braxton continues to prioritize her health and urges others to do the same, especially women of color who are disproportionately affected by lupus. “The goal here is long life and old age,” Braxton emphasized.
