After months of working hard in Las Vegas on his residency, Usher has received the key to the city!

In a special ceremony hosted by city Councilman Cedric Crear and Mayor Carolyn Goodman, the city declared Oct. 17 as Usher Raymond Day. The special honor comes days after Usher’s birthday and the announcement of his Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show next year.

“Councilman, thank you so much for this momentous moment. I know the efforts that go into doing something like this, and I don’t take it for granted.” Usher continued, “I wanna thank you for your belief in the future and your ability to be able to recognize those things that actually do grow your city. I am someone who is now just contributing by way of entertainment, but also to the heartbeat of the city.”

The Moving Mountains singer launched his Las Vegas residency in July of 2021. The over two-year-long residency was a catalyst in reviving live entertainment, specifically in Las Vegas, in the aftermath of the pandemic.

“This was the groundswell for the belief that we would get back to the norm that we know we needed,” Usher continued. He also thanked Goodman for allowing him to host his Lovers & Friends Festival in Vegas as well. Then he shared the possibility of future philanthropic plans for the city’s underserved community.
