Vivica A. Fox is returning to Genoa City.

After a 30-year hiatus, the acclaimed actress is returning to “The Young and the Restless.” The daytime soap is bringing back the Stephanie and Malcolm storyline with Shemar Moore.

Speaking with “Extra’s” Derek Hough, Fox said when she got the call to return to the show, it was a “total surprise.”

“They were like, ‘So, ‘Young and the Restless’ called looking for you today.’ And I was like, ‘Young and the Restless’? For what?’ They’re like, ‘They want you to come back, and they’re going to bring Shemar Moore back,” Fox said. :They’re bringing back Malcolm and Stephanie’s storyline.”

Fox then dropped a bomb about what fans of the show can expect.

“They have a love child together,” she explained.

Fox shared how much she is looking forward to being back on the show.

“This is a fabulous blast from the past. I was so honored when I got the call, telling me that The Young and the Restless was looking for me to come back and reprise my role as Dr. Stephanie Simmons,’ said Fox to CBS Austin.

“Dr. Simmons comes back to Genoa City with a lot of surprises and secrets, which will be revealed as my medical expertise is needed because Stephanie is now living in Manhattan, but she comes back to Genoa City to reunite with Malcolm. And, I can’t give too many spoilers, but I’m going to tell you that there’s going to be lots of surprises that you all will enjoy watching unfold every day.”

Fox also said that her role on “The Young and the Restless” will be more in more than one episode.

“Oh my goodness. You’re going to see many more episodes. With Dr. Stephanie Simmons and also with Malcolm,” she said. “So that’s the beauty of this, that we’re not just one and done.”

“The Young and the Restless led to “Independence Day,” and basically, my destiny opened up. I never, ever thought, 30 years later, I would be here and be at this level in my career and still here. And that just goes to let you know, the Young and the Restless discovers talent, nurtures talent, and then tells them, ‘Go out there, make it do what to do, but come on back home.”

Now in its 53rd season,“The Young and the Restless” airs weekdays on CBS and Paramount+. In Austin, it airs on CBS Austin weekdays at 11 a.m.
