SLANG, led by music executive Rene McLean, boasts a diverse roster including Grammy-winning producers Camper and 30 Roc, as well as emerging acts like Leaf, The Underachievers, and RY XP. McLean stated, “I’m proud to lead SLANG’s efforts to partner with quality artists and invest in their growth, regardless of genre or where they are in their respective careers.”
Will Smith’s Fresh Start
Smith’s new single, “You Can Make It,” has already garnered 1.13 million on-demand streams domestically. The inspirational anthem reflects Smith’s journey and message of perseverance. “Nobody gets an easy ride. We all have a cross to bear, but there’s wisdom in the fire, and every moment is an opportunity. Embrace the journey,” Smith explained.
Smith’s music career began in 1987 with DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince. Their hits “Summertime” and “Parents Just Don’t Understand” earned them the first rap Grammy in 1989. Smith later found solo success with tracks like “Wild Wild West” and “Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It,” winning his first solo Grammy.
Rene McLean, SLANG’s founder, brings a wealth of experience from his tenure at Influence Media Partners, where he secured major deals for artists like Future and Tyler Johnson. He also worked with icons such as Missy Elliott, Busta Rhymes, Pharrell, and Timbaland.
SLANG’s mission is to invest in artists’ growth and foster a supportive environment. “In a quickly changing music industry, SLANG artists will be surrounded by a team of like-minded strategists who will stop at nothing to further their trajectory and help them meet their goals,” McLean emphasized.
Smith’s signing with SLANG marks an exciting new chapter in his illustrious career. Fans eagerly anticipate his forthcoming projects and the innovative collaborations that lie ahead. As McLean noted, “Our commitment to culture comes first, and we consider our SLANG roster family.”
