Supermodel and beauty entrepreneur Winnie Harlow plans to publish a children’s picture book inspired by her own childhood and life journey. The book, titled Simply Winnie, is set for release June 2, 2026, through Penguin Random House’s children’s imprint.
Self-Acceptance for Winnie Harlow
Harlow says the new book draws directly from her experiences growing up with the skin condition vitiligo, which she was diagnosed with at age four.
She said, “I wrote Simply Winnie to inspire and empower young girls everywhere to embrace what makes us different and uniquely beautiful.”
In the story, a stylish young girl named Winnie feels out of place at school, then learns from her grandmother that “what makes her stand out makes her special.” The illustrator, Sawyer Cloud, brings the tale to life with bold, vibrant images and fashion-forward details.
Harlow, who has become a prominent advocate for beauty-diversity in the fashion industry, hopes the book will extend her message to younger readers. She said the hope is for children to feel confident in their uniqueness. The editor at Penguin described the book as “not about highlighting differences — it’s about celebrating it in conjunction with all the other amazing parts that make you uniquely you.”
Simply Winnie is 48 pages long and aimed at ages 4 to 8. It will be available in hardcover, e-book and audio formats. Pre-orders are already open.
Analysts expect the book to resonate strongly with families seeking inclusive and empowering children’s literature. Harlow’s own platform and reach in social media and fashion give the title built-in visibility.
She said, “This book has been something I’ve been wanting to write for as long as I can remember and I can’t wait to share it with you all.”
By sharing a story rooted in her own life yet accessible to children, she bridges personal authenticity with broad appeal. Educators and parents may see the book as a tool to open conversations about difference, identity and self-esteem.
