Today WBLS is recognizing our very own Newsroom Director, Ann Tripp.
Her career spans over two decades in broadcast journalism.
Throughout her journey in media, Ann has received three New York City Council Proclamations and has been honored over a dozen times.
During Women’s Month, she was honored at The Women’s Academy of Excellence 8th P.E.A.R.L.S. Award Scholarship Galla. Check out Ann alongside another groundbreaking woman, one of her fellow honorees, Colletta Smith, the NFL’s first African-American female coach.
During the month of March, Ann has also awarded The New York Office of the Comptroller Commendation. Below you’ll see Ann with Comptroller Scott M. Stringer, alongside the rest of the Women’s History Month honorees.
In addition, Ann was recognized by Borough President of the Bronx, Ruben Diaz Jr., for her role in empowering women in her community.
At 14, Ann began her on-air career at WNYC working three positions as an announcer, actor, and singer. After graduating from City College, she toured Europe as a singer. A few years later she went back to media as a news reporter and on-air personality.
Ann also worked as an interviewer for nearly a decade. During her spare time, she has also taught broadcast journalism and hosted seminars.
