Rapper and actor Xzibit has officially filed for divorce from his wife, Krista Joiner, after years of a rocky marriage. Legal documents obtained this week confirm that Xzibit, whose real name is Alvin Nathaniel Joiner, submitted the paperwork in Los Angeles County Superior Court.

The couple, who married in 2014, share a long history filled with ups and downs. They had been together for more than 20 years and share one surviving child together, a son named Gatlyn. Their first son, Xavier, tragically passed away shortly after birth in 2008.

Court filings show that Xzibit cited “irreconcilable differences” as the official reason for the divorce. In a statement to the press, Xzibit said, “It’s with deep sadness that I share this news. Krista and I have decided to part ways after many years together.”

Krista Joiner also issued her own comment through her attorney. She stated, “This was not an easy decision for either of us. We ask for privacy and understanding as we move forward.”

Financial Issues and Personal Struggles for Xzibit and Krista

The divorce follows a history of legal and financial issues between the couple. In previous filings, Krista accused Xzibit of hiding income during their separation. She claimed he had made substantial money through his cannabis business ventures, despite his claims of financial hardship.

Court documents from earlier disputes included Krista alleging that Xzibit brought in over $1 million in cash from his cannabis businesses alone. Xzibit had previously responded, saying he was experiencing “extreme financial difficulties” due to the pandemic and other factors.

Despite public disagreements over money, the couple had remained legally married until now. Friends close to the situation say both parties are focused on finding an amicable resolution. “They both want what’s best for their family,” said one source close to the couple.

No specific details about custody arrangements or division of assets have been made public yet. However, both Xzibit and Krista have emphasized the importance of co-parenting their son.

As the legal process moves forward, representatives for both sides ask the public to respect their privacy. “This is a deeply personal matter,” said a spokesperson for Xzibit. “He remains committed to moving through this respectfully and with dignity.”
