The Johnson family is winning! After rumors swirled about another Black-ish spinoff in February, ABC has finally confirmed more on-screen insight into the family of nine with Mixed-ish.

The new series will air as a prequel and focus on Rainbow’s life growing up in a mixed-race family in the ’80s.

Producers hoped to air the Black-ish “Becoming Bow” episode next Tuesday (May 7), which could have aired as a pre-pilot episode. ABC says the episode will now be held for next season, reports Deadline

Mixed-ish will show Rainbow recounting “her experience growing up in a mixed-race family in the ‘80s and the constant dilemmas they had to face over whether to assimilate or stay true to themselves.”

Bow’s story will start when her parents, Paul and Alicia, relocate into a hippie commune while raising their Rainbow and her brothers in a mainstream world that doesn’t know how to categorize their diverse DNA.

Aside from Rainbow’s upbringing — Zoey’s Johnson’s spinoff, Grown-ish, the Johnson family’s tale continues with season 6 on the way. The primetime comedy will run for the 2019 — 2020 season.

Until then, check out the trailer for the mid-season premiere of Grown-ish.
