After receiving backlash for defending Chris Brown at this past Sunday’s American Music Awards, Kelly Rowland stands by what she said.

She was recently stopped by TMZ, where she told them that she believes that the “Run It” singer deserves some grace. “I believe that grace is very real, and we all need a dose of it,” Rowland said.

She continued, “And before we point fingers at anybody, we should realize how grateful we are for every moment that we get…I just think that it’s important to be human. We are humans.” When asked if she feels that Brown needs to be forgiven for the things that he has done, she added, “You know what, we all need to be forgiven for anything we could be doing, anything we could be thinking, we all come up short in some sort of way and grace is real, and we are humans and everyone deserves grace period.”

During the AMA’s, Kelly was presented an absent Brown with the award for Favorite Male R&B Artist to which some audience members booed. The “Motivation” singer quickly got them together by pointing her finger and telling the crowd to chill out.  She went on to deliver a special message to him. See the video below.
