Mary J. Blige has not lent her voice or image to any AI companies

According to Variety, a controversial ad featuring Blige reacting to Suno’s AI audio sparked instant outrage. Critics called out the stark contradiction of pairing an icon built on raw authenticity with algorithmic music. Facing swift backlash, Suno pulled the ad and blamed a fake representative, highlighting the high-stakes clash over AI consent and artistic legacy.

“Ms. Blige is an icon who we all deeply admire. Ever since she broke onto the scene with ‘What’s the 411,’ ‘No More Drama,’ ‘The Breakthrough,’ ‘Growing Pains,’ etc., she hasn’t stopped innovating,” Sunno said in a statement. “That’s why we wanted to work with her.”

“We entered into a business deal with someone who presented themselves as Ms. Blige’s official representative. As soon as we learned this was not the case, and that Ms. Blige was uncomfortable, so we terminated the advertising campaign.”

SUNO FACING LAWSUITS

The fallout hits Suno at a brutal time as bad publicity continues to mount. The AI startup remains embroiled in major legal battles across the music industry. While Suno has managed to secure licensing deals with Warner and the revamped BMG, it still faces heavy-hitting copyright infringement lawsuits from Universal Music Group and Sony Music.

In real life, Blige is still living her best life in a residency in Las Vegas. Titled My Life, My Story, Blige launched her highly anticipated debut Las Vegas residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM in May 2026. Designed as a narrative-driven, theatrical production, the show weaves together decades of chart-topping hits—from foundational early-90s anthems like “Real Love” to celebrated deep cuts—into a cinematic chronicle of her personal growth and artistic evolution.

Backed by high-energy choreography, signature floor-length fashion, and her trademark raw vocal delivery, the engagement solidified the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul’s presence on the Strip, drawing fans nationwide and earning extensions into late 2026.
