R.I.P: Betty Davis The “Queen of Funk” Dies At Age 77

This is sad news. Betty Davis, known as “The Queen of Funk” has passed away at the age of 77.

Davis’ death was confirmed by her close friend, Danielle Maggio and it was revealed that the singer died of natural causes.

Betty Davis was Miles Davis’ second wife and had a musical catalog between 1964 and 1975. She is best known for her hit song “Get Ready for Betty.” In 1973, she would release her debut self-titled album.

Throughout her career, Davis gained a following because of her sexually-explicit lyrics and for blazing a trail for others to come after her.

We will keep her loved one in our thoughts and prayers.
