Fresh off the heels of her debut Super Bowl halftime show, Rihanna will perform live at the 2023 95th Academy Awards.

The show’s producers announced today that the Barbadian pop singer will sing her original song “Lift Me Up” from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The 2023 Oscar-nominated track was written by Rihanna, Tems, composer Ludwig Göransson and Black Panther director Ryan Coogler.

Rihanna has been candid about the nerves of being on stage again and being a new mother in recent interviews. Ahead of the Super Bowl, she sat down with Apple Music 1’s, Nadeska Alexis to discuss her Super Bowl LVII halftime performance.

“When you become a mom, there’s something that just happens where you feel like you can take on the world, you can do anything,” the Loud singer responded. “The Super Bowl is one of the biggest stages in the world. So, as scary as that was – because I haven’t been on stage in seven years – there’s something exhilarating about the challenge of it all. It’s important for me to do this, this year, it’s important for representation, it’s important for my son to see that.”

She expounded on motherhood with British Vogue journalist, Giles Hattersley. When asked about her birthing experience, she replied, “I cannot believe it,”. She added, “essentially, from one person I became two. You walk into the hospital as a couple and leave as a family of three. It’s nuts. And oh, my gosh, those first days are insane. You don’t sleep. At all. Not even if you wanted to. We came home, cold turkey, had no one. It was just us as parents and our baby. Man, you’re a zombie for the most part.”

The 95th Academy Awards show takes place March 12th, 2023.
