Toni Braxton has cleared the air about her relationship status with rapper Birdman.
Over the weekend, the singer went on Instagram to address the rumors that she and her ex-fiancé, Birdman, got married in a private ceremony. She also confirmed that they are no longer together and are both single.
“#FAKENEWS,” Braxton wrote over a screenshot featuring photos of her and the rapper with the headline, “Congratulations! Toni Braxton and Birdman Married In A Private Ceremony in Mexico!”
She said in her caption, “My dear friend @birdman and I are not married… never been married. We are both single.”
Toni Braxton and Birdman had been dating off and on since 2016 and were engaged before calling off their engagement in 2019. This news comes after the “You’re Making High” singer posted a photo of them sharing a kiss. The post has since been deleted.
In a previous interview, the singer talked about her relationship with the producer, saying that she never expected their friendship to turn into something more. “He has come to my baby showers, my plays, my shows. I never thought we would be dating or getting married,” she said.
Toni Braxton and Birdman met in 2002 after she was featured on his single, “Baby Can You Do It.”
