Whoopi Goldberg recently had a scare of a lifetime, that could of potentially took her life. The actor/talk-show host opened up about having a 1 in 3 chance of dying from pneumonia.
The doctor’s, who nursed Whoopi back to good health, visited The View, to share some details on her illness. When Whoopi began to feel ill, she contacted her primary care physician. Dr. Jorge Rodriguez stated that he could barely understand the Whoopi as she was “gasping for air” before she arrived to the hospital. Another doctor detailed her condition as an “all hands on deck” situation. Scary!
Dr. Greenberg revealed that due to her high fever, shortness of breath combined with her elevated heart rate and decreased oxygen levels; she had a 1 in 3 chance of dying.
Whoopi also encouraged viewers to take action and respond when they feel like something is off with their bodies. “Inactivity, not doing anything, not checking, will kill you,” she expressed. “So get your ego together and say, ‘Yeah, I’m going to the doctor because I don’t feel good.’ It’s okay to go to the doctor because you don’t feel good.”
She also revealed that since she has “slowed it down” she is feeling better.
