Dallas Mavericks star Kyrie Irving faces legal trouble over allegations that he failed to pay a $400,000 therapy bill. Therapist Natasha McCartney and her wellness company, Elite Mind Solutions, filed a lawsuit in the New York State Supreme Court on Monday, December 2, citing breach of contract, unjust enrichment, and fraud.

The lawsuit stems from services McCartney provided at a retreat Irving hosted in North Dakota last summer. Originally planned for 60 guests, attendance swelled to approximately 150, drastically increasing costs. McCartney alleges she adjusted her five-day program, which included meditation sessions, intuitive life readings, and ionic foot baths, to accommodate the larger crowd.

Crisis Management and Unpaid Bills

Compounding the situation, an attendee at the retreat unexpectedly died, requiring additional crisis intervention. McCartney claims she managed communications with law enforcement to shield Irving from media attention, coordinated with the coroner, and provided grief counseling for attendees.

“Despite multiple demands and amicable attempts to resolve the matter, [Irving has] failed to make full payment towards these invoices,” McCartney’s lawsuit states. She claims Irving verbally assured her that he would cover all associated costs, but he has not followed through.

McCartney’s attorney, Michael Faragalla, criticized Irving’s handling of the situation, saying, “Mr. Irving put it all off on his supporting cast. He even failed to pick up the phone and call Natasha McCartney, so he didn’t make any effort to resolve [the situation] prior to the actual filing [of the lawsuit].”

Kyrie Irving Lavish Contract vs. Alleged Unpaid Debt

Irving, who earns $40 million annually with the Mavericks, is averaging 24.8 points per game this season. Despite his lucrative salary, McCartney alleges Irving owes her $390,710 for her services.

The lawsuit demands full payment with interest, legal costs, and attorney fees. Faragalla claims Irving’s team made “several insulting offers” but failed to resolve the matter amicably.

Neither Irving nor his representatives have publicly commented on the case as of yet.
