Halle Bailey, best known for her work in the duo Chloe x Halle and her acting roles in The Little Mermaid and The Color Purple, has revealed that her first solo album, Love? Or Something Like It, will debut Oct. 24 via Parkwood Entertainment and Columbia Records.
In an Instagram post announcing the news, she wrote, “’love? or something like it’ — my debut album. a story of first love, heartbreak, and everything that comes after. out 10/24. this one means everything to me.”
A short teaser video accompanied the caption. In it, she narrates, “Once upon a time, there was a young girl that believed in love. She believed everyone belonged to someone… Was it ever possible? And here’s what happened.”
She planted early seeds for a solo career in 2023 with the ballad “Angel,” which earned a Grammy nomination. Since then, she has released singles such as “In Your Hands,” “Because I Love You,” “Back and Forth” and “Braveface.”
In the video, Bailey appears in a red gown and delivers the narration over moody visual sequences. The visuals also show her posing with the official album cover art.
Anticipation and Context
Fans eagerly await the full track list; it is not yet public which of Bailey’s prior singles will be included. Her announcement comes more than two years after her sister Chlöe’s debut solo album, In Pieces. Chloe x Halle have also continued occasional musical collaboration, including on Chlöe’s Trouble in Paradise album.
The emotional themes suggested by the title and teaser imply the album may navigate love, identity, vulnerability, and growth. The announcement post frames it as an intimate narrative. As Bailey put it, Love? Or Something Like It “means everything” to her.
