Peele expressed his excitement about the doc in a statement.
“I’m grateful to Monkeypaw for amplifying the powerful voices and long-standing culture of Black Cowboys and Cowgirls,” Pelle said. “Through High Horse: The Black Cowboy, on Peacock, their history is inseparable from the story of our country. Peele has revolutionized modern horror cinema by skillfully merging gripping suspense with incisive social commentary. His projects have delivered multiple critical and commercial hits. $Get Out (2017), his debut, was an immediate cultural phenomenon. Following this Oscar-winning success, $Us$ (2019) explored themes of duality, class disparity, and the American underclass through a chilling story of doppelgängers, proving Peele’s masterful use of allegory. Finally, the neo-Western sci-fi horror $Nope$ (2022) tackled humanity’s obsession with spectacle and the exploitation of both people and nature, continuing his streak of genre-bending, thought-provoking blockbusters.
