Lil Nas X made his first appearance in court in his battery case.
According to Rolling Stone, Lil Nas X was released from an inpatient treatment program after he was first arrested on assault charges in Los Angeles back in August. A judge signed a protective order that covers the transfer of discovery in his case.
Drew Findling, Lil Nas X’s attorney, spoke to reporters following the hearing about his client’s well-being.
“As you can see, Montero is doing amazing, doing great, and we’re super happy for him,” Findling said. “We’re looking forward to a positive resolution in this case, which we’re very confident of.”
Lil Nas X was absent from his previous court date in September because he was undergoing inpatient treatment out of state.
Findling said that “we’re doing what is best for [Lil Nas X] from a personal standpoint. And from a professional standpoint, but most importantly, for his well-being,”
“He is surrounded by an amazing family. And an amazing team of people that care about him and love him,” Findling continued. “He’s had a great life, and he’ll continue to have a great life. This is a bump that he’s going to get over.”
In August, Lil Nas X was charged with four felonies, including battery and injury on a police officer. Lil Nas X was seen walking down Ventura Blvd naked in the San Fernando Valley when the police were called to the scene.
Police officers approached the “Old Town Road” rapper, where he allegedly injured three of them.
The following day, he broke his silence on the incident with a video message shared to his Instagram Stories.
“Your girl is gonna be okay, boo. Okay? S—’s gonna be all right,” he said in the video. ” That was a terrifying last four days. But your girl is gonna be all right.”
Christy O’Connor, his attorney, denied that his client was on drugs during the incident.
“Assuming the allegations here are true, this is an absolute aberration in this person’s life,” she said in court, per the Associated Press. “Nothing like this has ever happened to him.”
