Music producer Dallas Austin is alleging serious misconduct by singer Macy Gray, claims that remain unproven and strongly disputed.
Austin, a Grammy-winning producer known for his work with TLC, Boyz II Men and Madonna, made the accusations during a recent podcast interview and in follow-up social media posts. No lawsuit has been filed, and no criminal charges have been announced.
Gray has not publicly responded to the claims. Her representatives did not answer multiple requests for comment.
Allegations Surface After Years of Silence
Austin, 54, said the alleged incidents occurred more than a decade ago during a private studio session in Los Angeles. He described the encounter as “confusing, humiliating and deeply uncomfortable.”
“She crossed a line that night,” Austin said during the interview. “I didn’t know how to process it, especially as a man.”
Austin claimed Gray groped him without consent while they were alone in the studio. He said he froze and tried to laugh it off at the time.
“I told myself no one would believe me,” Austin said. “So I stayed quiet.”
He also alleged Gray later took possession of his Ferrari without permission following a separate studio visit. Austin said the vehicle was never returned.
“That car was my pride,” he said. “One day it was gone, and I was told she had it.”
Austin provided no documentation during the interview to support the claims. He said he is considering legal options.
Industry Reaction and Calls for Caution
The allegations have sparked debate within the music industry, with some urging caution due to the lack of verification.
“These are serious claims,” said entertainment attorney Lisa Bloom, who is not involved in the matter. “They require evidence and due process.”
Several industry figures emphasized that accusations alone do not establish guilt.
“Everyone deserves to be heard,” said music executive Kevin Liles. “But facts matter.”
Others noted the rarity of men publicly accusing powerful women in entertainment.
“Men face stigma when speaking about sexual misconduct,” said cultural critic Touré. “That doesn’t mean every claim is true.”
Gray, 56, is best known for her hit “I Try” and has maintained a low profile in recent years. She has not been accused publicly of similar conduct before.
No Charges, No Lawsuit — For Now
Law enforcement agencies confirmed they have received no complaints related to the allegations. Court records show no civil filings involving Austin and Gray.
Austin acknowledged the lack of formal action but said speaking publicly felt necessary.
“I’m not trying to cancel anyone,” he said. “I’m trying to tell my truth.”
He added that he expects skepticism.
“I know people will doubt me,” Austin said. “I’ve lived with that fear for years.”
As of now, the claims remain allegations. Without corroboration or legal action, the situation remains unresolved.
No further developments have been confirmed.
