What She Believed Happened

In a recent interview with The Art of Dialogue, Mack’s ex-wife, Roxanne Hill-, made a shocking claim. Hill alleges that Mack’s AIDS diagnosis may not have been accidental. When asked directly if she believes someone intentionally infected him, Hill did not hesitate.

“Yes, I do,” she said. According to Hill, the “Flavor In Your Ear” rapper confided in her that he suspected something was “done to him,” rather than contracting the virus through common means.

Hill recalled a time when Mack warned a friend in South Carolina to “be careful because they will put someone with you and they’ll poison you.” At the time, his diagnosis was not public.

Hill also revealed that their two children together continue to struggle with unanswered questions surrounding their father’s death.

“They’re like, ‘How?’ There’s no clear path,” she shared. “The kids knew he had been sick, but no one told them what was wrong. Unmedicated, all those years. Why? I don’t know. So, if you do the math, that puts him back in New York when he got sick,” she continued.

Mack’s Sexuality

She also pushed back against longstanding rumors about Mack’s sexuality.

“Craig was a very heterosexual man. He liked women. He liked the company of women. So when people were saying, ‘Oh, he was gay.’ He wasn’t gay. Someone got to him.”

Hill added that his illness appeared without any early signs or warnings.

“This was just out of the blue,” she said. “There was no explanation.”

Craig Mack was best known for his 1994 smash hit “Flava in Ya Ear.” He stepped away from the spotlight in the late ’90s and later joined a religious commune in South Carolina. He passed away on March 12, 2018, just three days after the 21st anniversary of The Notorious B.I.G.’s death.
